AWS Elemental MediaPackage is a format conversion service that delivers live and on-demand video to many devices from a single source.

A channel represents the entry point for a content stream into MediaPackage. Upstream encoders, such as AWS Elemental MediaLive, send content to the channel. With MediaPackage, a content stream is packaged and output from an endpoint that you create on the channel. There's one channel for each incoming set of adaptive bitrate (ABR) streams.

List channels

The channel is the first component in MediaPackage. It represents the input to MediaPackage for incoming live content from an encoder, such as AWS Elemental MediaLive. With MediaPackage, you don't need to supply any customer data. There are no fields in channels where you're expected to provide customer data.

Create channel

Harvest Jobs provide details about the video-on-demand (VOD) assets that you want to harvest, or extract, from live content streams.

List harvest jobs

To extract a live-to-VOD asset from a live content stream, create a harvest job. The harvest job identifies what endpoint the asset is being harvested from, the start and end of the asset and where MediaPackage will save the asset after it's been harvested.
