Amazon Interactive Video Service (Amazon IVS) is a managed live streaming solution that makes low-latency live video available globally and allows you to create engaging live stream and interactive video experiences. Amazon IVS Chat is a scalable stream chat feature with a built in moderation option designed to accompany live streaming video.

A channel is a unique configuration for streams. It includes broadcast configuration details (a server URL and stream key) for streaming software/hardware, and a playback URL for playing the stream.

Channel

Rooms are the central Amazon IVS Chat resource. Clients can connect to a room to exchange messages with other clients who are connected to the room. 

Room

Recording configurations are configuration resources that can be attached to an Amazon IVS channel. When a recording configuration is attached to a channel, the channel’s live streams are automatically recorded to the Amazon S3 bucket defined in the recording configuration.

Playback authorization allows the ability to create private channels by restricting your streams by channel or viewer. When a viewer tries to watch a stream, if the channel has authorization enabled, Amazon IVS verifies that the viewer has a valid playback token in the request before they can watch the stream. A playback token is a JSON Web Token (JWT) that you sign and include with every playback request for a channel that has playback authorization enabled.

IVS logging configurations are attached to chat rooms to enable logging message history to a destination, like an Amazon S3 bucket.
